008: Ah-nold.

February 12th, 2010 at 03:10 pm

Just to update: I spent no money yesterday. Ah-nold was running with the Olympic Torch in Stanley Park just about ten minutes ago. And I was going to respond to comments and catch up on blogs, but because of the Olympics, I have to leave earlier for work. Hopefully this day goes well. Happy Friday, everyone!

The Olympics are giving me anxiety attacks. Sadface. I'll expand on that when I get home.

I'm sorry. I lived in Vancouver for 20 years, and that includes Expo 86 so I have a tiny inkling of what you're going through and am postponing my BC jaunts until March 3.

Hype, spectacle, civic glory, rich-snarky tourists, traffic jams and olympic-size corruption? What's not to like? The Olympics are fun to watch but I can imagine that for most local people its going to be a long seventeen days.

Love both Victoria and Vancouver. I love it so much that I'm visiting when you'll want to see me - at least several weeks after the furor dies down.

PauletteGoddard: Good plan! Friday wasn't so bad, but the Olympics have only just begun...

Jerry: Oh, yes. I wouldn't say I'm anti-Olympics, but I'm definitely not excited. I feel the economic fall-out will be very bad. I plan to flee the province in a few years. My family is in the US and I have permanent residency, so... why not.

baselle: You hit the nail on the head! I love Victoria. I actually prefer it over Vancouver, to be honest.
